Medical air vent membrane

2024-08-08

For medical device related enterprises, the choice of filtration membrane not only concerns technical performance, but also the footstone of safety, effectiveness, and compliance of medical devices, directly affecting patient safety, treatment outcomes, and corporate reputation. Today, I will share with you how to choose the appropriate air filtration membranes.

When selecting air filtration media, we recommend that you consider the following important characteristics:
Water entry pressure
Differential pressure
Air flow rate
Bacterial and/or particle retention
Hydrophobicity and/or oleophobicity
Thermal stability
Chemical compatibility
Compatibility with sterilization methods
XINNA has been providing high-quality and stable materials for the healthcare industry for many years, and we have a profound understanding of the scientific dynamics of air/gas filtration. Our filter membranes that meet the requirements of filtration standards can help your product from design to market. We recommend three of our air filtration membranes in medical hydrophobic and air venting today :

1.PTFE membrane:
PTFE membrane naturally has hydrophobicity, which can effectively block microorganisms and particulate matter. This type of filter membrane can significantly reduce the titer value and has high water intrusion pressure, which can repel high surface tension liquids and simultaneously vent air.

PTFE membrane can be used in various healthcare applications, such as the venting holes of infusion filters and the ventilation windows of spikes, to protect equipment and sensors from liquids and contamination. As a matrix for tissue growth and implants, the characteristics of this material include wide chemical compatibility, excellent particle retention, ease of handling and sealing, and compatibility with multiple sterilization methods. These characteristics make it a multifunctional material in applications that require hydrophobic barriers. Whether you need to allow gas/air to pass while keeping the fluid sealed or building a sterile barrier, PTFE membranes are the ideal choice.

Application:
Air vent/Equipment protection/Hydrophobic barrier/Organic solvent filtration

Welding process:
Mechanical welding process/Adhesive/RF welding/Ultrasonic welding/Insert molding

2.PTFEO membrane(Hydrophobic+Oleophobic)
Hydrophobic and oleophobic filtration membranes are suitable for breathable applications that require interception of particles, bacteria, and viruses. This membrane adopts a new generation of breathable materials, specifically designed to meet the changing market demand and meet the requirements of environmental laws and regulations. These filter membrane grades have physical integrity and the ability to reduce the risk of aerosol particle contamination, while maintaining stable performance under various operating conditions and sterilization methods, and meeting or exceeding typical industry requirements.

Application:
Breathable & hydrophobic barrier/Equipment protection/Air filtration/Medical bags and equipment breathable

Welding process:
Ultrasonic welding/Mechanical welding process/Adhesive/RF welding/Hot welding

Sterilization compatibility:
Gamma rays/Ethylene oxide (ETO)/High temperature and high pressure

3.Glass fiber membrane
More and more finished devices and equipment require the use of hydrophobic materials as exhaust outlets to block pollutants in the gas. In order to protect medical staff, patients, and equipment from harmful aerosol pollutants, it is necessary to effectively filter the exhaust port. Hydrophobic glass fiber membranes can provide higher gas flow rates and sufficient filtration efficiency, with lower economic costs.

Our hydrophobic glass fiber membrane series consists of a glass fiber matrix, including high-performance adhesives cast on various support matrices. The supporting matrix includes cellulose and fiberglass fabrics.

Our materials have undergone patented post-processing, which combines hydrophobicity and oleophobicity. The use of hydrophobic fiberglass membranes as exhaust filters is suitable for applications that require gas exchange, while reducing the risk of gas borne bacterial contamination.

Application:
Air intake/Hydrophobic barrier
Welding process:
Mechanical welding process/Hot welding (depending on the support layer)/Insert molding
XINNA can provide you with multiple pore sizes for each filter membrane. At the same time, the size of roll, sheet, and disc filter membranes can be customized according to requirements. Please feel free to inquire.
