China Suppliers Factory Hydrophobic Spike Vented Caps Membrane - High Flow Rate PET for Air Inlet Applications
Product Introduction
Medical devices require vents to keep their internal pressure in balance with the ambient pressure, maintaining pressure balance within the infusion set and avoids the deformation of rigid plastic containers and interruptions in flow of fluids.
The vents that use our Hydrophobic PET membrane could protect the fluid path from particles, aerosol and bacterial contamination, avoid risk to human health, maintaining sterility of an IV set and bottle.
Because of its unique constructure and manufacturing process, Hydrophobic PET membrane has the same performance and property on both surfaces. Every fiber deep inside the spike venting membranes is hydrophobic and oleophobic, the outstanding oleophobic properties can effectively prevent permeation of lipids and alcohols drugs like TPN, D-Mannitol etc., which consequently improve the safety of infusion medications and reduce the feedback of adverse clinical events.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do medical devices and IV sets require venting membranes?
Medical devices require vents to balance internal pressure with the ambient environment. This prevents the deformation of rigid plastic containers, avoids interruptions in fluid flow, and maintains sterility by protecting the fluid path from particles, aerosols, and bacteria.
How does the oleophobic property of the PET membrane benefit clinical applications?
The outstanding oleophobic properties prevent the permeation of lipids and alcohol-based drugs (such as TPN and D-Mannitol). This improves the safety of infusion medications and decreases adverse clinical events.
Can this PET membrane be used with ultrasonic welding?
No, ultrasonic welding is not recommended for this material. The recommended welding method is thermal welding at a temperature of 210℃.
What precautions should be taken regarding adhesives and glue?
Avoid using glue or cyclohexanone for adhesion, as these substances can clog the porous structure of the PET membrane, blocking airflow and gas passage.
In what dimensions and formats can I order this membrane?
The membrane is available in material grade E, with a pore size of 050 and thickness of 200~300 μm. It can be supplied in Rolls, Pieces, or Customized sizes to fit your specific design requirements.
