China Suppliers Disposable Infusion Heparin Cap Injection Site - Quality Factory Direct Medical Products
Product Introduction
The heparin cap is a type of medical device that can be injected with sodium heparin internally, hence it is clinically named the heparin cap. It is equipped on intravenous catheter and I.V. cannula, locked with standard Luer connector without leakage. The heparin cap’s main function is to seal the catheter, allowing for multiple, repeated punctures and intravenous drip or injection of medication for treatment.
After the completion of an intravenous drip, the sodium heparin in the heparin cap can take effect, preventing blood back flow and anti-coagulation. If the intravenous catheter is not used with a heparin cap, it is prone to blockage and secondary infection.
The heparin cap can extend the service life of the intravenous catheter, reduce patient discomfort and medical costs, and also improve the efficiency of nurses. Under normal circumstances, the intravenous catheter paired with a heparin cap can remain in place for 5 to 7 days.
Features
- Puncture repeatedly 30 times without debris
- Inject medicine or fluid without removing cap
- Withstand a pressure of 20Kpa without leakage for 30 seconds
- Non latex material, safe and non-toxic, non-sterile
- Transparent appearance, easy to observe
Cautions
The heparin cap should be replaced at least every 7 days, but if there is blood residue, damage to integrity, or removal of the heparin cap, it should be replaced immediately.
During the use of heparin caps, attention should be paid to keeping them clean and dry, avoiding friction and irritation.
The position of the heparin cap should be properly fixed to avoid pulling and causing the intravenous catheter or central venous catheter to come out.
If the heparin cap is contaminated with blood due to improper operation, it needs to be replaced immediately to avoid affecting the anticoagulant effect or inducing inflammatory infections.

Frequently Asked Questions
QWhat is the main clinical purpose of a heparin cap?
The heparin cap is designed to seal intravenous catheters and I.V. cannulas using a standard Luer connector, allowing for repeated punctures and safe intravenous delivery of medications while preventing leakage.
QHow does the heparin cap prevent catheter blockage?
After an intravenous drip is completed, the sodium heparin inside the cap takes effect to prevent blood backflow and coagulation. Without it, the catheter is highly prone to blockage and secondary infections.
QHow many times can the heparin cap be safely punctured?
The heparin cap is designed to withstand repeated punctures up to 30 times without producing debris, ensuring patient safety and treatment integrity.
QHow long can a heparin cap remain in place?
Under normal circumstances, a heparin cap paired with an intravenous catheter can remain in place for 5 to 7 days. However, it must be replaced at least every 7 days or immediately if it becomes contaminated, damaged, or removed.
QWhat are the immediate replacement triggers for a heparin cap?
It should be replaced immediately if there is any visible blood residue, contamination, damage to integrity, or if the heparin cap has been removed during clinical procedures.
QIs the heparin cap material safe for sensitive patients?
Yes, the heparin cap is manufactured using non-latex, safe, and non-toxic materials, featuring a transparent appearance for easy observation during medical procedures.
