Disposable Infusion Heparin Cap/ Injection Site

The heparin cap is a type of medical device that can be injected with sodium heparin internally, hence it is clinically named the heparin cap.It is equipped on intravenous catheter and I.V.cannula ,locked with standard Luer connector without leakage. The heparin cap’s main function is to seal the catheter, allowing for multiple, repeated punctures and intravenous drip or injection of medication for treatment.

After the completion of an intravenous drip, the sodium heparin in the heparin cap can take effect, preventing blood back flow and anti-coagulation. If the intravenous catheter is not used with a heparin cap, it is prone to blockage and secondary infection.

The heparin cap can extend the service life of the intravenous catheter, reduce patient discomfort and medical costs, and also improve the efficiency of nurses. Under normal circumstances, the intravenous catheter paired with a heparin cap can remain in place for 5 to 7 days.

● The heparin cap should be replaced at least every 7 days, but if there is blood residue, damage to integrity, or removal of the heparin cap, it should be replaced immediately.

● During the use of heparin caps, attention should be paid to keeping them clean and dry, avoiding friction and irritation. 

● The position of the heparin cap should be properly fixed to avoid pulling and causing the intravenous catheter or central venous catheter to come out.

● If the heparin cap is contaminated with blood due to improper operation, it needs to be replaced immediately to avoid affecting the anticoagulant effect or inducing inflammatory infections.
